“We need to do this more often.”
Skyler poked at the fire for a second longer, mesmerized by the bright in the dark, before she recognized that Michelle had said something. “I’m sorry, what was that?”
“I said, we need to do this more often. Campfires are the ultimate stress relief.” Michelle sighed, also staring into the bright light, watching sticks burn and break, and the little sparks that flew up as the wood readjusted itself.
“We always say that,” Skyler laughed, “we always insist we are going to do this more often, then time goes by and it’s been months since we’ve done it, and we build up a fire and insist we are going to do this more often.”
“Well, then who am I to break tradition?” Michelle smiled, letting her head fall to the side to admire the fire from a slightly different angle.
“Yeah, yeah, okay. Fair enough.” Skyler poked at a log, sending sparks flying and causing Michelle to jump a little in her seat. “Tradition away.”
