Fiction: Jealousy (180 words)

20 Mar

Okay, so I was a little jealous, but I mean, come on.  How in the world did she do it? Charlotte Andrews seemed so unassuming—and yet, there she had the beautiful and intelligent Samuel Morgan on her arm, practically falling over her every word.  Not only that, but she was doing well in all her classes, even managing to ace Professor Richardson’s class, which was hands down one of the hardest classes I’ve ever taken—and I’d taken some doozies in my day.  If I didn’t see how smitten Charlotte was for Samuel and vice versa, then I would have assumed that Charlotte was doing a little something for Professor Richardson on the side to earn that grade.  But then again—Samuel was in that class too…maybe that had some sort of deal.

So, yeah, I’m a bit jealous of her intelligence, her boyfriend, and the fiction I invented that she might be getting some from Professor Richardson on the side.  But really, what right does she have to be that lucky anyway? Even if one-third of it isn’t true.
